Day Four

I'm sitting down to type this before I go to bed. I think I'm experiencing what so many people that attempt any kind of exercise go through and that's trying to stay consistent and on a schedule. This morning I wasn't able to get out and walk. By the time I would had been able to I would had been rushed because Thursdays are short days for school so I had to pick up my daughter from school earlier than normal. Afternoon time was too hot to walk. So around 6:30pm I figured instead of postponing walking, I would take my daughter with me around the neighborhood.  My daughter is 7 and she rode her bike; her goal is to get the training wheels off so the more she rides and the better she gets the more soon those training wheels will come off.

Even though I enjoy my own time, this was wonderful! I loved having this quality time with her and she truly loved every minute as well. We stopped in a shady, grassy spot about 15 mins in and sat down, drank some water and just relaxed for 5 mins. Then we started back towards home. We were out a total of 45 minutes. She was proud of herself for biking that far. So mommy got her walk in and Sam got mommy-daughter time.

Day Three

Today I'm taking a rest because with every step the front of my legs ache. My body is adjusting to being more active. I did, however weigh myself today and I have lost 1 pound.  Progress!

For lunch today I had some sliced cucumbers from the Farmer's Market with hummus and some teriyaki/pineapple glazed zucchini.

Tomorrow I'll continue my walking.

Day Two

So today is day two of walking to lose. Before I ventured out, I realized yesterday that I needed a pack of some sort for my water, cell phone, tissues (allergies) and whatever else I need to toss in there. I found this fabulous pack at a local Thrift Store and it was half off, SCORE! $1.50 and it's just right.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to walk as early as yesterday so it was a bit warmer out, which made my walk a tad unpleasant. BUT I stuck to it and was out walking for 40 mins with 5 mins of that resting about 20 mins in.

Something else I'm noticing is my water consumption is increasing and I'm a person that can get bored quickly with water so I have been using Crystal Light Pure Fitness packs and my favorite flavor so far is tropical.

As far as how I feel physically, my legs are sore! I realize now that I'm really out of shape. I want to alternate my walking with riding my bike but I tell you what, that isn't happening until I get a more comfortable seat because I'm not trying to injure the goods. I rode my bike once and swore I wasn't doing that again til I buy a comfier seat. Another thing I noticed from my walks is that my fingers swell a bit from walking, which concerned me but researching online I find this is quite common.

Stay tuned friends as I continue walking to lose.

Day One.

As planned, today was day one of getting my rear moving. I figured I would begin my walking today since my daughter started school (2nd grade) and that freed up time for me to focus on myself. For those that don't know me, I'm a medical transcriptionist so I tend to sit A LOT whether it be for work or pleasure. I need to get my circulation going. As far as eating, I'm borderline vegan so I'm focusing on staying away from starchy foods and drinking more water. I need to move towards a healthier me!

So to keep it simple, I walked around my neighborhood. I've lived in this particular neighborhood since May this year and it was nice to actually get out and explore. It was rather quiet so my walk was pretty peaceful. I did a brisk walk for 30 minutes. I've always been a fast walker so it was no problem for me to keep up a regular, quick pace. The challenge is for me to be disciplined enough to keep up this routine, or rather lifestyle. So I invite you to follow me through this journey.
